Went with another couple to try this place. 1st of all, the waiter came to our table wearing dark sunglasses. He didn't welcome us or tell us his name, just rapped on the table and asked what we would be drinking. We sat outside on the porch to enjoy the harbor view and although there were places in the ceiling where ceiling fans should be, there were none. We ordered our food and one of the people wanted pizza. He was told that it couldn't be ordered from our table, but had to go upstairs for that.?? One waitress tried to bring us someone else's food, then ours came. I got a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and it was delicious! The only problem was, the constant flies hovering and trying to land on our food. Had to wave them off with one hand while trying to eat with the other. Those who ordered tuna and chargrilled oysters said they were good. I tried a piece the brick oven pizza and was not impressed at all. It was dry and flavorless in my opinion. Our waiter seemed to be in a bad mood, and when asked, he complained that he was made to wear black pants, that it was hot, and that he would rather wear shorts. He also did not ask whether or not our check was to be together (for the 2 couples) or separate, and just brought it out together, which created a problem. The manager came and apologized, but it really did not seem sincere at all. Could have at least offered to adjust the bill, but said there was Nothing she could do. All in all, some of the food was good, some ok. Service was terrible, as were the flies. Would NOT go back.

Ok this place is known for their pork chops. Well it's true. Delicious. Taste like I cooked it on my pit at home. Got to also try the Caesar salad. The dressing is homemade and garlicky. Mm good. Will be back to try sme other dishes. Casual atmosphere.

We visited on Mother's Day and despite the decision to make reservations that morning everything went perfectly. The view from our seats were spectacular, as we had a shaded outdoor table that offered us the best of protection from the sun while giving us the gulf air. Service was amazing as three different managers/owners checked on us, in addition to the wonderful server we had. The food choices were standard fare for the area, however the quality was outstanding and the pricing was competitive for the area. Overall, our meal at Bacchus helped create an excellent Mother's Day and we will definitely visit again.

This is my new favorite restaurant. We sat outside and enjoyed a delicious dinner with a view of the water. Highlights: the atmosphere. It's quirky. The food was amazing. Order the salmon nachos. Finish with the king cake bread pudding. Our waitress was friendly. The food is high class but you can be casual and relaxed. Disappointments: Inside the restaurant is loud. We requested to sit outside. They forgot to bring our salads. Tips: Order the King Cake bread pudding for dessert. Ask for the military discount. Sit outside. Come hungry.

I love everything about this restaurant. Well, not EVERYTHING, but I've always wanted the good news first so, shall we discuss the good? This place is amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and (for the love of god) I cannot remember the name of the salad I had but it was to die for good. Shrimp, lump crabmeat and capers atop romaine lettuce. Alright?!? Get that. Seriously. No, really. Get that. The location is pretty perfect. Although it's not on the water it's still looking over the harbor and just right across from the beach. Oh, and did I mention the patio? The patio is the best one on the coast. Period. In addition, service was great. Friendly but not overbearingly so. Perfect food, service, perfect location, perfect patio. So why four stars? Well The bad: This place had a live band on aforementioned patio. When a resturant has a live band you think to yourself, "hey, that could be cool", yeah? No. It's usually not. Look guys. I've seen Better Than Ezra more times than you know. A shitty rendition of "Desperately Wanting" and/or "Rosalia" makes my heart sad.

Best fried shrimp on the coast! They use Royal Red, which is the best, and you would think it is lobster. It's a must try,

Having chosen to dine outside, we soon regretted the gnats and highway noise. That didn't stop us from having a great seafood meal. Jeffrey, the waiter, was superb going above and beyond. Bacchus doesn't serve decaf coffee, but Jeffrey brought me one from the adjacent coffee shop. We were moved to the closed, upstairs party area during our meal completing our dinner peacefully. The food? Very tasty and fresh shrimp, mahi mahi and crab. Crawfish chowder was special.

Just visited Bacchus on our summer trip to the coast. Love this new gem! Ate the colossal crab special salad and the broiled oyster special. It was a dozen charbroiled oysters cooked 3 different ways. Fantastic! My husband had the redfish special. It was delicious as well. Other companions had two different salads. They were very happy. The inside, bar and deck are all great dining options. Can't wait to go back!

Food was amazing. I had the oyster artichoke soup and salmon nachos. We passed the place and decided to try it out...glad we did. Nice atmosphere but seems other patrons were not used to dining with kids. We had a big party with lots of kids and got a ton of ugly looks. The kids weren't acting up just being kids. The wait staff all did a fine job and it was nice that the checks were easily done separately. Will definitely go back...probably without kids to avoid the looks from the snotty patrons.

I love Jeffrey! I loved the ginormous ribeye with sautéed mushrooms blue cheese in a cognac cream sauce and a side of creamed spinach. I also had a delicious Caesar with added blue cheese crumbles. Dessert inside at the bar was king cake bread pudding with a luscious cream cheese layer in the middle. Mmmmm!

LOBSTER SCAMPI = BEST ITALIAN DISH ON THE GULF COAST. Yes, I said it. Bacchus on the Beach is an absolute gem. Despite our arrival 20 minutes before closing, we were sat outside and given prompt & attentive service by Justin. He was extremely friendly, helpful, and had great energy/humor. The wine recommendations were great, the oysters were fantastic, and the Caesar was perfect. I ordered the Lobster Scampi, and it was absolutely divine. I haven't had an Italian dish that tasted this authentic in the South. It was piled high with succulent lobster claws, and had just enough white wine, garlic, & cream without drowning the penne. I couldn't have been happier! The chef came out to meet us after hearing our compliments, and even sent out a special dessert. The atmosphere was very romantic. I'll surely be back.

So great was our lunch we went back for drinks and oysters for dinner. Too bad they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday or would be back there today. Food and service (thanks Justin and John) were great. Here's a tip: Monday is Pork Chop day (lunch) soooo good! Great find!

I usually love going here ob Mondays, but my waiter was so indifferent that it made a bad experience. Food was great, but wasn't asked choice of dressings pr how tp cook meat. I said i was going to get crab topping or poppers and was brought both. If food wasnt so good i would have sent back. I normally tip 20 to 35% but such poor service got just about 11% Hope this was just a bad day for this waiter or next time i will go to manager

Great food and atmosphere! My wife and I decided to try something different for dinner tonight and she suggested Bacchus On The Beach because one of her friends worked there. I would recommend getting there early if you or make a reservation because it was packed as soon as we sat down. Ordered the spinach & artichoke dip with bow tie pasta topped with crab meat for starters. Wife ordered the Cajun seasoned 16 oz ribeye & I ordered the regular 16 oz ribeye topped with crab meat and gouda cheese. Both were cooked to perfection medium raw and had a nice char on the outside. Dessert was a mardi gras theme king cake enough for two.

Service was terrible! Our waitress took 45 minutes to take our order and had to flag her down just so she would. We ordered sandwiches and 2 hours later and a screaming tired one year old we finally ate and left. We won't be back.

1st let me say it was a beautiful setting to have lunch yesterday. Now let me start with the critique of the food and service. We had lunch with friends who have been to this restaurant many many times and have always raved over the food and the service so we decided to have lunch there yesterday with them. We started with an oyster combo platter which is three different types of oysters (casino, Rockefeller, and chargrilled) suppose to be chargrilled, which were actually baked in an oven not chargrilled over an open flameThey did have wonderful taste and probably would have been really good if we could have eaten them as soon as they were served but the waitress did not bring plates for us to serve three oysters each to four people. But instead the waitress proceeded to take our entire lunch order while the oysters sat in the middle of the table and got cold. By the time she did manage to come back and bring us four individual plates about 10 to 15 minutes elapsed which meant that all of the oysters were cold. If it would have been my wife and I only eating, I would have sent them back for a completely new order, but I had another couple and I didn't want to make waves. When the lunch entrées were served to us the two orders of french fries for both my wife and I were cold. Again, if her and I would've been dining alone I would've sent them back for a new order. The sandwiches and hamburgers that we ordered were very very good. I will give this restaurant another chance as our friends really like the place and know most of the ownership and staff. The view of the gulf is very nice while having a meal. Because our friends are frequent diners they still left a 20% gratuity which I thought was too much.

A bit of fine dining attempts with a flair for less than adequate service. The establishment is actually across the street from the beach and not on the beach and it looks jealously at Shaggy's which is actually on the water. This restaurant seems to attract more of an older retirement age crowd that are generally better dressed than the folks over at Shaggy's. The food is generally decent to good but the often slow service can mar the experience. They do have a nice patio area that can be pleasant to enjoy some drinks.

Great food, service, and drinks. The food is amazing. The staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. After a delicious dinner my girlfriend and I went upstairs for karaoke in the piano bar area. It was a blast! Dirt Reynolds was great.

Heard they had a new location and had to try. I don't see this as the type of place you need to make a reservation for, as it wasn't crowded but the service did not have the kinks I ran into when the other location first opened. Still love the the jalapeño poppers (**** stars) which have a tender bacon wrap, tasty cream cheese and sausage filling. The Croque Madame (**** stars) is still the heart attack sandwich which I love to wat with the smoked gouda and fried egg running over the ham. Service was good and my meal went off without a hitch so kuddos on the new location.

We had tried the Bacchus in Gulfport and had a bad service experience several months ago. Now they have opened this new place in Pass and, having heard good things, we decided to try it. Bad idea! The four of us arrived around 6pm and were seated outside. We sat there for 20 minutes waiting for a server to arrive. We finally called the host over and asked him if this was typical of the service here. His response? "Pretty much". We left, promising to never visit another Bacchus establishment.

What do you get when you mix smoky French bistro, oak barrels, sixties music and some of the finest interpretations of Creole and Italian foods on the Gulf Coast? Bacchus Beach. A definite must do. And check out the art gallery, not just pictures!

I came here when it was Wolf's & French Charly's... both were unappetizing restaurants. This location is prime real estate. And now that Bacchus is back on the beach... it has become a delicious retreat when my husband & I return to our hometown. We actually dined here two nights in a row when were visiting this past July. Everything was wonderful & just so happy that there's a great dining venue in Pass Christian.

My mother-in-law first visited Bacchus and told us the food was great, but the service was awful. We decided to try for ourselves; bad idea. We waited..and waited...and waited. Servers were passing us left and right for 20 mins. Finally we flagged a server down to take our order and she stated she would pass it on to our server. We got our food another 40 minutes later, and it was ice cold. We had them ALL sent back. My son wouldn't touch the grilled cheese, it was still cold, even after they nuked it. My husband and I ended up eating our son's meal, because it tasted better than our meals. They did give us half off, but typically a restaurant should rectify the situation by re-making the food instead of nuking it. If I wanted nuked, I would have went down the road to McDonalds. They asked if we would please try them again, but I'm in no hurry. Also a manager never presented himself to apologize, just a server. Or who we think was our server?!?

This place has been open for a little while now, so I think it is far to give it a review. It is better than the previous ownership; Wolfs. Having been there about five times now, we have concluded that this is really a place for a casual lunch, and a place to have a beer and socialize. Some of the sandwiches and smaller items can be ok during lunch, however the entres in the evening are margnal at best. The more expensive the item, the more disappointing the quality. The three times we have been there for lunch, when there are fewer people, the lunches have been quite ok and served hot. The two times for dinner, the entire experience has been terrible. One night, the appetizes and entres all came at the same time, they were all over cooked, and when we were asked why very little gotten eaten, we told them why, and we got a "sorry" problems in the kitchen tonight, but here's your full bill. The second time the chicken was completely undercooked so you could not cut it. The server asked and when he was told, it was another oh sorry. Then we got the full bill. Many nights the place is very busy, and I have to assume that is because of the great location and alot of fun people hang out there. It certainly is not because of the quality of the food. So, its a great lunch place, a fun bar, but we will then go somewhere else to have dinner.

All I can say is I would order again in a heartbeat! I had royal red scampi. It was excellent. Try the muffaletta salad or pasta. Nice medley of flavors. The proportions were ample to have even the big eaters satisfied. They get a 10 in my book.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
